Conservation Plan Overview

THE DOG AND CRANBERRY LAKES ASSOCIATION
LAKE STEWARDSHIP PLANNING PROGRAM

This brief note will serve as an introduction to the documents posted below. We have now completed the draft Conservation Plan (formerly called the Lake Stewardship Plan). The draft plan, a summary of the plan and three documents that lead to it’s development are posted here on our website.
  • The full draft Conservation Plan: The purpose of the Dog and Cranberry Lakes Association Conservation Plan is to foster conservation and wise use of our lakes and their immediate environment through stewardship,
research and community action. This plan explains what we value, the issues we need to face, and what can be done to conserve our natural, cultural and scenic heritage. While the volunteers in the Association can and will take the lead, each of us should be fully committed to participate as stewards of our lakes and shorelands. LINK: Conservation Plan
  • A summary of the Conservation Plan: While the summary of the plan provides an overview of what we would like to accomplish, you are urged to read the entire plan (it's only 38 pages) to get a full picture of the scope of the issues we face, and how we will address them through a wide range of actions. LINK: Summary
  • State of the Lakes Report: This is a lengthy (87 pages) and detailed compilation of all information that we have been able to gather on the two lakes and their immediate surroundings. If you want to obtain a full picture of the characteristics of the lakes and the history of the area, I invite you to read this full report.   LINK: State of the Lake Report
  • A full list of recommendations that flow out of the State of the Lakes Report that will be considered when we prepare the lake plan itself: These recommendations really are the heart of the matter, so to speak. If all you read is the recommendations and provide us with comments, you will be doing us a great service. LINK: Recommendations
  • A summary of the report and recommendations: This will provide you with a broad overview of both. LINK: Summaries
We want to hear from you. Do you have any more information to further improve the State of the Lake Report or the Conservation Plan? Do you agree with the Recommendations? Are we missing anything? I would welcome an email; [email protected] or phone call; 613-861-9401 if you have feedback for us.
